Partners With Ethiopia believes the best way to fight poverty in Ethiopia is to support locally run NGO (nonprofit) organizations. We have been working in this capacity since 2010 and have seen firsthand that our partners know best the needs and solutions to help empower individuals, families, and communities impacted by poverty. Please help us support our partners by donating today. Throughout the year, we hold a variety of fundraisers to support specific projects. Follow us on social media and subscribe to receive our emails for updates.
I Care Ethiopia (ICE) joined our list of partners in April 2020. Located in the capital city of Addis Ababa, they serve vulnerable women and their children who survive by begging on the streets. ICE's long-term goal is to help these women transition into productive work by providing education, training, and the support necessary to be successful. ICE's founder, Meheretab Abate, was sponsored as a child through Compassion International. He feels God has called him to serve the most vulnerable in Ethiopia. We sincerely appreciate his heart and passion. You can learn more about I Care Ethiopia by visiting their website.
SHAPEthiopia has been our partner since 2010. Their head office is in Hawassa, Ethiopia. SHAPEthiopia is an indigenous, community-based NGO (nonprofit) dedicated to making a significant difference for vulnerable children, women, and communities through various programs and projects. You can learn more about SHAPEthiopia by visiting their website.
Streets of Hope (SOH) became our partner in July 2020. Yemisrach Auberson, SOH's founder, grew up in southern Ethiopia in a town called Sodo. At age 13, she was adopted and moved to the United States. For years, she deeply desired to return to serve the most vulnerable in Sodo. SOH began its efforts in 2019 to reach vulnerable families. Yemisrach's love for vulnerable families and commitment to serving them is inspiring. You can learn more about Streets Of Hope by visiting their website.
We first met Dr. Desta Langena and his wife, Zenebech, in August 2019. Dr. Desta is the founder and director of Ambericho International Prayer and Mission Movement (AIPM), an indigenous missionary-sending organization that started in the late 1990s. Their mission is to glorify God by reaching the lost in Ethiopia with the Good News of Jesus Christ through the power of prayer and evangelism. AIPM has planted thousands of churches in unreached parts of Ethiopia and employs over 600 Ethiopian missionaries. Due to Dr. Desta's life experience, prayer is a significant focus of AIPM. Each January, between 50,000 and 100,000 Ethiopians climb Ambericho Mountain for a day focused on praying for personal and global revival. In 2021, we started supporting AIPM with a monthly donation. Their incredible and prayerful ministry inspires us. You can learn more about AIPM by visiting their website.
Partners With Ethiopia and our Ethiopian partner organizations are faith-based initiatives, following the example and directive of Jesus to “care for the least of these,” “love orphans and widows in their distress,” and to see God’s “Kingdom come on earth as it is in Heaven.”
As we focus on serving and building lasting relationships, we use that as a platform to share the good news of Jesus. However, we realize that faith is a personal choice that each individual must make for themselves.
Regardless of their faith, we serve all children and women and do not require any of them to adhere to the Christian faith in order to receive our services. In the same way, we encourage you to join us (regardless of your faith) in the life-giving journey of loving and helping to care for others.
Join us in the journey of caring for others; sponsor a child at sponsor.give2pwe.org, or make a donation to our general fund at give2pwe.org.
